BLCKGEEZER (b. 1997) is a London born and based visual artist who is living with stage 4 breast cancer. They completed a Foundation in Fine Art at Kensington and Chelsea College (2015-2016). Graduated in 2020 on Fine Art Mixed Media BA Honours at University of Westminster with a First Class Honours (2016-2020). Awarded with the Paul Detsy Scholarship and enrolled on the MA PAINTING programme at the Royal College of Art (2020). Selected for Col Arts Bursary and materials prize (2021), awarded with Black Studentship (2021- 2022) and Sir Frank Bowling Scholarship (2022-2023), Graduated from the Royal College of Art MA PAINTING with the Chadwell Award (2023). Awarded with Arts Council DYCP (2024) and National Lottery Project Grant (2024). Enrolled onto the MA CERAMICS AND GLASS at Royal College of Art and Awarded with UK Disabled students Scholarship (2025).
They were diagnosed with breast cancer during their studies at the age of 23. Despite ongoing cancer treatments they have exhibited in group shows across London, including Porous Abstraction (Alma Pearl Gallery, London, 2025), and a solo show, Black Nausea at the Alma Pearl Gallery (2024). In the wake of a right breast mastectomy BLCKGEEZER birthed the terms "Breastistentialism" and "Black Nausea" – responding to the unease and agony of chemotherapy, invoking black as a material, a state, a colour, a mood, concept, and site of abstraction.
