Gordon (he/him) was diagnosed with MGUS (Monoclonal Gammopathy of Undetermined Significance), in 2007, a condition with an abnormal protein in the blood that typically doesn't cause symptoms. While most people with MGUS remain stable, a small percentage may develop multiple myeloma, an incurable cancer that affects blood and bone marrow. Gordon was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2017 and started chemotherapy at the end of that year in preparation for a stem cell transplant in 2018. The transplant was successful, leading to a period of remission until his relapse in 2021. With no cure for myeloma, Gordon has focused on getting on with living and managing his condition through various treatments. Over the past eight years, he has sat on the Board of Trustees at the Terrence Higgins Trust, retrained as an integrative psychotherapist and coach, and received diagnoses of autism spectrum disorder and ADHD.
